China–Europe Railway eastern corridor passes 1,000 trains in 2026

03.04.2026

The trains transported 105,170 TEUs, an increase of 43.2%, with the 1,000-train threshold reached 26 days earlier than in 2025

China State Railway Group reported 1,034 China—Europe Railway (CRE) trains handled via the eastern corridor between 1 January and 26 February 2026, up 48.4% year on year.

The eastern corridor comprises the Manzhouli, Suifenhe and Tongjiang rail ports. It operates 27 regular routes linking more than 60 Chinese cities, including Changsha, Zhengzhou and Chengdu, with 14 countries such as Poland, Germany and the Netherlands.

Railway authorities prioritised CRE train paths in response to rising cross-border volumes. The deployment of a digital port system, coordination with customs and border inspection agencies, optimisation of broad-gauge train reception and upgrades to wagon inspection technology reduced minimum customs clearance times at ports to within 30 minutes.

Overall transport efficiency across the corridor increased by nearly 10%, according to China State Railway Group.
