11.12.2024

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to create a feasibility study for the construction of a new highway that will connect Almaty with the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul.

This decision was made at a meeting of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Council.

The 280-kilometer route will pass through Uzynagash, the Kastek Pass, the village of Mikhailovka (Karasai Batyr) and the city of Kemin. The new highway will significantly improve transport links between the two countries, providing a convenient route for residents and tourists.

The project is planned to be financed by the Asian Development Bank in the form of targeted grants, which will accelerate the implementation of this significant project for the region.
