It is understood that the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenzhen) primarily operates along two main trunk routes: one departing via Manzhouli to Russia, and another exiting through Alashankou and Khorgos to European destinations such as Germany and Poland. Notably, the routes to Germany and Poland carry a high proportion of high-value-added goods including mechanical equipment and electronic and electrical products, which has driven up the overall cargo value.
Data shows that since its launch five years ago, the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenzhen) has opened 28 outbound routes, covering 47 Asian and European countries and regions, with over 1,000 freight trains dispatched, 650,000 tons of goods transported, a total cargo value exceeding 25 billion yuan, and services provided to more than 8,000 enterprises.
To ensure the efficient and smooth operation of this international logistics corridor, Shenzhen Customs has strengthened collaboration with railway operators and logistics platforms, fully promoting the «Railway Express» customs clearance model, enabling goods to achieve «one-time declaration, one-time inspection, and one-time release.» Meanwhile, the customs authority has promoted multimodal transport models such as rail-road intermodal transport and trans-Caspian rail-sea intermodal transport, establishing coordination mechanisms with customs at transshipment and exit points to provide enterprises with diverse logistics options. Additionally, the customs has established «one-on-one» full-process declaration guidance for enterprises, round-the-clock appointment-based customs clearance services, and «green channels» for high-value cargo inspection, ensuring goods are cleared immediately upon arrival and inspection.
«This year, both the number of train operations and freight volumes have maintained rapid growth, with the service coverage expanding from Shenzhen to the entire Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and some inland provinces. Through our regular ’Customs-Railway-Enterprise’ communication mechanism, we coordinate cargo sources and train schedules in advance, open ’green channels,’ and ensure ’goods loaded upon arrival and trains dispatched upon loading,’ making every effort to guarantee the stable and efficient operation of the freight trains,» said an official from the Inspection Section I of Sungang Customs, an affiliate of Shenzhen Customs.
